Pauline "Polly" Margaret Clement

June 10, 1926 ~ April 27, 2021
Pauline "Polly" Margaret Clement, 94, homemaker, died Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Rosary will be at 10:30 am; Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 1, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mom's commitment to her husband and her family was exemplary. She and dad have an inseparable partnership. Together they have made decisions about how to raise their family, enjoyed daily power walks, and simply reflected on the day in each other’s company. The Clement dinner table was always a place for family and friends to gather and engage in long conversations and fun exchanges. Polly’s roots in rural Kansas and memories of the Great Depression provided her a strong foundation that allowed her to lead her family well. She learned how to manage a budget while taking care of six active kids. Her seamstress skills were well-known. She enjoyed making clothing for the family and helping friends with last minute alterations and wedding dresses. Polly was a mom to six children, but a mother and example to many others. She was a very hard worker and expected nothing less from her children. Over the years, family gatherings with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gave her great joy. Preceded in death by her parents, Peter Wieser and Gertrude Wieser. Survived by her husband, Joseph G. Clement; sons, Donald J. (Kathleen) Clement of Leawood, KS, Martin J. (Diane) Clement of Overland Park, KS, Kevin C. (Kimberly) Clement of Lakewood, CO, Robert E. (Lisa) Clement of Shawnee, KS, James (Dana) Clement of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Jeanne Clement (Richard) Roberts of Wichita; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with: Joe and Polly Clement Endowment of the St. Katharine Drexel Fund with Catholic Diocese of Wichita, 424 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67202; A Better Choice, 3007 E. Central Ave., Wichita, KS 67214. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
My sincere condolences to the Clement family for the lost of such a wonderful woman. I grew up with the Clement family all the way through grade school at All Saints and then high school at Kapaun Mt Carmel. I can’t remember a time that Mr. and Mrs. Clement were not attending some sporting event and cheering Kevin on, not to mention all of us from All Saints. I had so much respect for her for being so kind to me growing up, and she always had this certain “smile” on. The good Lord gave her a special gift of kindness with gratitude for life, and the family she taught and raised so well. Blessed with 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, I can only imagine what a wonderful grandmother she must have been to them all. A special thanks and best wishes her son Kevin and his family in Colorado. Thanks for all the rides home from sporting events or after practices. So Kevin, as I have experienced, we will miss our mothers dearly but they are always with us. A special thought to the all the Clement children, it is an honor to have known your mother, and I pray for all of you in this difficult time. Joe and Kathy Grommesh Frisco – Texas 214-878-1264
Thank you Joe for your kind thoughts. We had a tremendous celebration of life and beautiful ceremony along with a great family gathering. A glorious day. Kev
Joe and Polly were the first couple I was introduced to when first joined All Saints Church. They were greeters and were always so friendly. My husband and I talked with them on our “mall walks” in cold times. A beautiful couple. Polly will be greatly missed by many. Love and prayers for your family. Ellen and Don Nulton
To Mr. Clement, Don and Kathy, and all the Clement family, My deepest sympathy in the passing of your wife and mother. She was truly one of a kind, a vibrant, devout, compassionate, hardworking lady. I hope your memories will comfort you in the days ahead. “The sadness of death gives way to the bright promise of immortality.” You will remain in my prayers.
