Pedro R. “Pete” Enegren-Benavides, much loved son, brother and father, died Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was 34. Pete was the ultimate sports enthusiast, following regional and national teams closely, especially the Chicago Bulls and Kansas City Chiefs. He had an incredible memory for all sports statistics and enjoyed many, many pick-up basketball games with his friends. A graduate of Wichita Northwest, Pete worked with his family at LS Industries. He attended WSU and recently returned to his studies there, majoring in Sociology. He planned to work with foster children, a long standing interest of his. He is survived by his son, Dominic Benavides; parents, Phil and Linda-Weir Enegren; siblings, Ken Enegren (Monica), Paul Enegren (Yeni), Mandy Enegren all of Wichita, Joy Morton (Jake) of Tulsa, Michelle Enegren of Denver, Sasha Enegren (James Massol) of New York City; grandmother, Chris Enegren of Wichita; and a large extended family. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Downing Lahey West Mortuary. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. A memorial has been established with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an agency that advocates for abused and neglected children, 220 W. Douglas, Ste. 15, Wichita, KS 67202.
