Phyllis Marlaine Miller, 79, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. Visitation with the family, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 4, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 3 p.m., Friday, May 5, Evangel Assembly of God Church. One of the most inspiring things about Phyllis, was that she lived 8 decades without ever growing old. At 78, she was adventuring in Costa Rica (she claims with Justin Bieber, but her loved ones digress), and at 79 she was dyeing her hair pink. She blazed her own path, and it was spectacular. Her children and grandchildren always engaged in good-spirited debate as to who were her favorites. And the truth is that the debate persisted because she made each and everyone feel as if it were them. That was her gift. She filled everyones lives with enough love and laughter to last them for the rest of their lives, no matter how many years they may each pass without her. She will always be with them. That tiny stick of dynamite was always the biggest thing in the room. She carved out such a huge place in everyones hearts for her, that it would dishonor her absolute hunger for life if they should fill it with loss and sorrow. That love remains and it always will. If everyone must live the rest of their days without her, then they should do it in a way that honors her: big, loud, and till the wheels fall off. Preceded in death by husband, Robert Jack Miller; parents, Richard and Ella Coleman; siblings, Helen, Irene, Richard “Bubby” and Ronnie. Survivors: daughters, Pamela (Michael) OHare, Becky Mulch, Jennifer (Dan) Brewer; sons, Bryan (Valorie) Miller, Jason (Valerie) Miller; sisters, Juanita, Betty Jane, Norma Jean, Ruby Lee (Orin) and Madeline (Bill); 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial established with American Diabetes Association, 608 W. Douglas, S-100, Wichita, KS 67203 and Alzheimers Association, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214.
