Quincy W. Utter, 92, World War II Navy Veteran and Korean War Army Veteran, died Sunday, March 19, 2017. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 30, 2017; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday, March 31, 2017, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Utter; son, Thomas Quincy Utter; parents, Virgil and Georgia Utter. Survived by his son, Anthony (Carolyn) Utter of Wichita; daughters, Janis (Jeff) Scott of Lenexa, KS, Nancy (Phil) Coker of Fort Myers, FL, Carol (Joel) Troyer of Goddard, KS, Susie (Brian) Wolf of Overland Park, KS; brother, Clifford (Pat) Utter of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Quincy was a relief pitcher for the University of Wichita Shockers from 1949-1951. He was a founding member of the Home Run Club that helped bring baseball back to WSU after several years hiatus and could be found sitting in the stands in the first row behind home plate for over 30 years. He had season basketball tickets at the Roundhouse/Koch Arena from the Shockers inaugural game in 1955 until 2012 when he wasnt physically able to continue cheering for the Shockers.
