Ramona Jean Pope passed from this life unexpectedly on September 8, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas. She was 81 years old. Ramona was born to Leonard Murray Lowe and Viola Mae (Rothrock) Lowe on January 1, 1944 in Aurora, Illinois.

Shortly thereafter the family moved to Hutchinson, Topeka, then McPherson, Kansas when she was in elementary school. She attended McPherson High School where she was President of the Future Homemakers of America. Ramona attended McPherson College for 3 semesters, then transferred to a floral design school in Denver, Colorado where she graduated.

She worked as a floral designer for several years in Seattle, Dallas, and Wichita.

After moving back to McPherson she owned her own floral shop for approximately fifteen years, before returning to Wichita where she continued to work as a floral designer. Ramona was married briefly and then divorced.

After retiring as a florist, Ramona turned her interests into contributing her skills to The First Church of the Brethren in Wichita where she was a member and served as a Deacon for many years. In addition to designing beautiful floral arrangements for the church, she was active in Bible study groups, and several committees. She was an active member of the CareSingers group which provided visitation and music to homebound members and others facing challenges in their lives.

Ramona will be remembered for her Card ministry. She sent greeting cards, as long as she was able, to members of the church on their birthdays, anniversaries, and to people with health issues. She would always add Bible scriptures and a personal note. One Christmas she even brought small loaves of bread along with Christmas cards to everyone in attendance. She always had a caring presence.

She is survived by her siblings, Rosalie Black, who lives at The Cedars in McPherson, Philip Lowe (Sarah Lowe), of Palm Coast, Florida, and Sharon Beckwith of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the First Church of the Brethren, 1103 Jefferson, Wichita 67203. She will be inurned at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS.

The family wishes to express their gratitude at this time to Ramona’s friends for their kindness and help during this difficult time.

Arrangements in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
