Randolph Joseph Ruffo
October 7, 1953 ~ August 25, 2014
Randolph Joseph Ruffo, formerly of Farrell and Wheatland, PA, passed away after an extended assignment in the cancer industry. He died peacefully with family by his side. He was 60. Memorial service, 11 a.m., Friday, August 29, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Mr. Ruffo was born October 7, 1953, in Sharon, PA, a son of Joseph and Rosella Brown Ruffo. He was a 1971 alumna of Farrell High School, 1973 of Penn State, SVC, and 1979 of West Florida University. Randy had a long, fulfilling career in engineering and worked for several excellent companies during his 41 years of service. His career landed him in many places including Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and China. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Florida, Texas, Kentucky and Kansas, cared compassionately about the profession, and brought safe, productive designs to many manufacturing industries. He was a member of ASME, NSPE, KSPE, and WSPE. He was a former Haysville, KS Chamber of Commerce V.P. He married his high school sweetheart, Elona Lucas Ruffo on October 4, 1975 in Hermitage, PA. He was formerly a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Farrell, PA, and was a long time brother in the Knights of Columbus, most recently Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton council #10483, Wichita, KS. Elona survives him along with their children, Carla (Ruffo) Taggart and her husband, Kyle, of Athens, AL, Philip J. Ruffo of Wichita, KS, and his grandson, Braiden Joseph-Allen Ruffo, who was the light of his life. Also surviving are his brother, Gerald A. Ruffo of Milton, FL., his sister, Valerie (Ruffo) Broughton of Minneapolis, MN and her husband, Walter. Preceding him in death were his parents. Randy treasured his wife and family more than anything in the world. He took pride in sharing his familys traditions, enjoying the adventures and many travels with family over the years. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the doctors and caregivers for their dedicated service to help with “the battle”.
