Raymond “Ray” Tammaro was born the youngest of 13 children to Carlo and Mary (Sheldone) Tammaro in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on September 5, 1943. Ray was active in various sports throughout childhood and was a high school letterman in basketball. He attended New Castle Business College where he earned dual degrees in Business and Accounting. While in college, Ray met Roseann Naples and they were married on November 6, 1965, at St. Vitus Catholic Church in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
After college, Ray began his career at Wean Expanded Metals in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania where he held various positions. He and Roseann’s first child, Tammy Tammaro, was born on June 25, 1968, in New Castle. Ray’s personability, aptitude, and hard work earned him admirers throughout the steel industry. His career took him to Warren, Ohio where his son Justin Tammaro was born on January 12, 1977.
More excellent performances and promotions secured Ray Vice President positions in several steel companies in Edmond, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, South Bend, Indiana, and back to Warren, Ohio. In addition to these moves, Ray’s career afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the Northeast. He enjoyed his travels, was an avid golfer, and a sports fanatic. While in South Bend, Ray developed a lifelong love for Notre Dame football and held season tickets. He could often be found there on game day with his family.
Ray retired from Amico in Warren, Ohio as Vice President of Sales in 2014. He and Roseann moved with their beloved dog, Oscar, to Wichita, Kansas in 2016 to enjoy retirement near their two children and three grandchildren (Jordan, Christian, and Phoenix). He was devoted to his family and God. His love for people earned him an excellent career and even more friends. Ray never knew a stranger and was loved by everyone he encountered. He will be greatly missed.

For a year I had only spoken to Ray on the phone. Then in late 2025, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Ray and Roseann. I will forever cherish our conversations.
Thank you Jordan and Tammy for sharing Ray with me even though it was way too short.

Ray was a kind thoughtful gentleman. He always took the time to ask about my wife and kids and would share stories about his family. Ray’s calm demeanor will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to Ray and his loved ones.
