Raymond “Ray” Daffron, 97, World War II survivor of D-Day at Omaha Beach, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014. Ray drove for Continental Trailways for 20 years. He then owned Daffron Insurance and Real Estate Company and later retired as owner of Rays Rod and Reel. Memorial service, 10 a.m., Friday, August 8, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; children, Stanley, Robert and David; siblings, Dick, J.R., Shirley, Gene and Ruth. Survivors: son, Jim; grandchildren, Rhonda, John, Patrick and Brian; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Parsons; dog and faithful companion, Tito. Memorials to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
