Reba F. Gorley

Reba Fay (Lucas) Gorley, 80, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was born on May 30, 1937 at 10 am to Bessie Elizabeth Seymour and Gideon Scott Gorley in their home in Weir, KS. Reba was the first born of a set of twins. Twin sister, Retha May continues to live at the "ole home property" in Weir. Reba was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lucas; parents, Bessie and Gid; 4 brothers, Raymond, Ivan, Glenn, and John; 2 sisters, Sylvia and Elizabeth. She is survived by her twin sister, Retha; son, Michael Lucas; 2 beautiful granddaughters, Autumn and Audrey. Her ex-husband John Lucas of Pittsburg, KS passed away November 1, 2014. Right after high school, Reba worked as a night telephone operator at the private owned telephone office in Weir (from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.), her twin worked the day shift. After her night shift at the telephone office she walked a couple of blocks over to her second job at the local chiropractors office, Gene Dunlap. She was a very tired girl at the end of her day a 4 p.m. Then she walked a mile home and ate dinner and went to bed for a few hours until her next shift at 8 p.m. She has always had more going on than she could handle. Throughout her life, being a full-time mom, she worked many different part time jobs. From Bell Telephone Company, nursing, butcher block at Dillons, etc. She retired in 2008. She was cremated and her remains will be buried in the family plot at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS. Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 4, 2018, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
