Rebecca Becky Griswold

Rebecca “Becky” Jeanette (Garvin) Griswold, 83, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2014, while in hospice care in Wichita following complications from a recent hospital stay and surgery. Becky was born to Amanda and Robert Garvin in Attica, Kansas, April 17, 1931, the youngest of 5 children. She attended Anthony High School, graduating in 1949. She then attended the University of Kansas, graduating in 1953 with a Pharmacy degree, and was one of only three women in her class of 47. After graduation and marriage, Becky worked as a pharmacist at many locations in the Wichita area, including Gesslers, Revco, Drug Emporium and Leekers. She maintained her pharmacy credentials in the State of Kansas for over 50 years. Becky was a kind soul, devoted to her customers, always willing to lend a helping hand and will be missed by many. She married James E. Griswold in 1955 and together they had 3 children. Survivors: sister, Louise McDivitt; sons, Doug Griswold (Peggy) of Wichita, Tom Griswold (Rosa) of Apollo Beach, FL; daughter, Lynette Griswold of Franklinville, NC; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, William and Vincent. Memorial service, 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 18, West Heights United Methodist Church.
