Many years ago (if you’re a child) my wife & I took a garden railroad tour, which led us to this backyard in west Wichita. Among the people surveying the beautiful layout was familiar sailing friend, Ray Keller. “What a nice surprise to see you here,” I said. He said, “I come here a lot. I live here!” flashing that famous Keller smile. We met a lot at the sailing club, but only for short conversations. I always came away wanting to be his best friend.
Sending love to the family.
I met Ray at the NYC, he was assigned as my rudder buddy. He was our go to guy if we had questions about sailing or the facilities. We want on a few sailing expeditions with Ray and Helen, Milford Reservoir and Grand Lake. Ray and Helen were a great couple and a joy to be around.
I have known reverend Keller since he was the minister at zion methodist church. He was a really good minister and liked and loved by all. I was just a little girl in grade school when I met him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to Helen and Katherine Karen and Kim and to their families. May God hold you all in his arms during this difficult time. May God bless you all. Love, Debra Horchem Dickerhoff
To Ray’s Family: I wish to express my sincere condolences to Ray’s family. My history with the Kellers began when I was student secretary to Dr. Leland, and then with the Biology Dept. at Pittsburg State. Little did I know that two years later, I would be teaching with Ray at Hamilton Jr. High. He was always a gentleman and a scholar!
