Richard D. (Dick) Scherer

Scherer, Richard (Dick) D., (87) joined his Lord on April 9, 2013. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M.; Funeral Service will be at 1:30 P.M., both on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; daughters, Diane Bodenhamer (David), Linda Oliver (Don); son, Jim Scherer (Teresa); 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his son Richard, II. Dick served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from Boeing Aircraft Co. after 31 years of service in engineering, flight test, and management. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 50 years. He spent years serving with the Quivira Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers and the Executive Committee for KSU College of Engineering.
