Richard Dean Hoskinson, 89, Retired President of Central Sand Inc., died Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 1:30 pm, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton, KS. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorena (Burnham) Hoskinson; brothers, Don Hoskinson, Dale Hoskinson. Survived by his wife, Verda Mae Hoskinson of Wichita, KS; sons, Scott Hoskinson, Rick Hoskinson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrell Hoskinson, Doug Hoskinson; sister, JoAnne Mock. A memorial has been established with: Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 11303 E Longview Rd, Burrton, KS 67020. Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

Met Dick and his boys in 1982 at the Central sand pit on 13th. St. Hauling sand out. He was one of the hardest working individuals I have ever met, one leg did not slow the man down a lick, I’ve seen him climb in and out of a Volvo loader too many times to count in a days time. I have ran loaders all day and it wore me out at 20 years his junior. He instilled a work ethic in both his boys that couldn’t be matched. You may not agree with everything He said, but, you WOULD NEVER OUT WORK THE MAN. God Bless. Scott Berry
We will all dearly miss Uncle Dick! I vividly remember his card-playing days when he would come and play a few hands with his brothers Don, Doug and nephew Dave. They all had a great time!
