Rundstrom, Richard “Kirk”, 38, our precious and much loved boy, surrendered his battle with cancer on Thursday, February 22, surrounded by family and loved ones. May God Bless Him and Keep Him. Memorial services will take place at the Orpheum Theater in Wichita, KS on Monday, February 26, At 1:00 P.M. We request all to attend, to honor him and to put him to rest. Survived by: his best friend and wife, Lisa Fletcher Rundstrom and their two daughters, Elle Fletcher Rundstrom, 12 and Mollie Annabelle Rundstrom, 9; his father and step-mother, Bernhard and Carolyn Rundstrom of Canton, KS; his brother and family, Gary and Sharon Rathbone and their son, Garrett of McPherson; his brother and family, Mark and Karrie Rathbone and sons, Brodie and Tristan of Hillsboro, KS; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Nita Fletcher of Wichita, KS; his sister-in-law and family, Lori and Philip Burress and their son, Fletcher of Wichita, KS. Kirks mother, Myra Fisher of Canton, KS passed away in 1999. Kirk is most known for his amazing performances and accomplishments with Split Lip Rayfield as a lead singer and guitar player. He has worked with numerous musicians over the years through different projects and has created a tight knit family of wonderful friends and bandmates. Split Lip Rayfield bandmates include Jeff Eaton, Eric Mardis and Wayne Gottstine. Prior to Split Lip Rayfield, Kirk was a founding member of Scroat Belly, and is survived by bandmates Wayne Gottstine, Mitch Clay and John Ezell. Simultaneous to Kirks work with Split Lip Rayfield, he also completed projects with The Kirk Rundstrom Band and Grain and Demise and is survived by bandmates Eric Mardis, Colin Mahoney, Georgia Sutton, Mark Foley (not the senator), and Mike West. His bandmates from Grain and Demise include Calvin Bennett and Ryan Johnson and Bridget Law. Many other musicians and artists have participated and shared their time on Kirks many CDs with artwork contributed by good friends, Patrick Duegaw, Jeff Eaton, Ron Dolecek, Seth Diespiess, Eric Schmidt and Lisa Rundstrom to name a few. Most recently Kirk completed a solo project entitled Imperfect Spirals. He worked with several friends on this project as well as his great friends and confidants, Eric Schmidt and Jamie Tabor. Split Lip Rayfield: Live at the Cotillion is scheduled to air on PBS, channel 8, Saturday, February 24, at 9:00 P.M. Memorials have been established with Project Access, 1102 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67211 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
