Richard Stephen Davis Jr., lovingly known as "Steve" and often called "Junior" by those closest to him, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at the age of 67. Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Steve was a man whose warmth, wit, and wisdom touched everyone he met. His infectious laughter and charm made him the kind of person who could brighten any room, leaving a lasting impression with his humor and genuine kindness. Steve had a keen intellect that made him both a deep thinker and a respected Geologist. His curiosity and ability to grasp complex ideas were evident in both his professional achievements and personal interactions. Despite his intellect, Steve was never without his quirks-he could be ornery, known for his playful mischief and a stubborn streak that only added to his endearing personality. Steve's academic journey began at the University of Kansas, and he later graduated from Wichita State University, leading to a successful career in geology where he was admired for his expertise and camaraderie. Steve was preceded by his parents, Richard S. Davis Sr. and Valerie Davis. He is survived by his sister, Donna; his niece, Lauren and children; his nephew, Chase (Morgane) and children; his cousins, Jan, Peggy, Don and Stanley; and many close friends. Steve will forever be remembered as a loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. Steve’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, humor, and the joy of living life on his terms. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family. May he rest in peace, knowing he made the world a brighter and more joyful place. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E Central Ave, Wichita, KS.
