McCabe, Rita, 90, retired Via Christi - St. Joseph Campus Business Office employee, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Ft. Collins, CO. Rosary 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 1, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, All Saints Catholic Church. Rita was a wonderful grandmother who loved baking cookies for her grandchildren, bowling and crocheting afghans and ornaments for everyone. She was a great cook, beautiful seamstress and enjoyed flower gardening. As a military wife, she lived in many states and countries. Preceded in death by her sisters, Jessie Shea, Helen Langdon, Marie Culp and Clara Butts and brothers, Jim and John Shea. Survivors: son, Bill McCabe (Jana) of Derby, KS; daughter; Janet M. Shilling (AJ) of Livermore, CO; brother and sisters, Eva Maynard, Babe Behrens and Bob Shea, all of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Shea Oliver, Jill Foster, Jennifer Ritchie, Scott McCabe, Jeff Yoakum, Kristin Friday and Mike McCabe; 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Colorado, 1525 Riverside Ave., Fort Collins, CO, 80524. Tributes may be sent to the family via www.dlwichita.com

Rita, my friend and aunt. We enjoyed being neighbors in our condo’s.I miss sitting by the pool with you, having a few drinks.I miss our Saturday night Mass and going out to eat after. I missed you when you moved to Colorado, but was glad you were with family, especially your grand daughter, Jill, who you were so close to. God speed your soul to his heavenly light.
