Robert "Bob" J. Giebler

Robert “Bob” J. Giebler, 95, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born in 1929 in Menasha, Wisconsin, to Theodore and Elizabeth (Karlin) Giebler. Bob graduated from Fort Hays University and served in the United States Army during the post-WWII occupation in Germany.
Bob and Viola (Malsam) Giebler were married in August 1956. While living in Topeka, they adopted Susan and then Mark. Upon moving to Wichita, Bob worked for Wesley Medical Center until retirement.
Bob was a passionate fan and supporter of the Kansas State Wildcats. He attended or watched his beloved cats any chance he had. Bob volunteered for many organizations, including restoring the B29 bomber "Doc," and spent many days at The Lord's Diner. He often could be found in his parish choir loft and spent many Sundays praising God in the respective choirs of St. Jude and St. Patrick's. However, the absolute joy in his life was spending time and sharing his faith with his family and grandchildren.
The rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 28, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The internment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Polly) Giebler of Wichita; daughter, Susan Peavler of Kansas City; grandchildren, Annie (Jeffrey) Cummings, Elizabeth Giebler, and Robert Giebler II; and one great-grandchild, Christopher James.

Thinking of you all during this tough time! I have fond memories of Uncle Bob! He was the best!
Rest Robert, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation. U.S. Army.
Bob was one of the finest most upstanding men I ever had the privilege of dealing with. He was however, as I remember, a jokester. I knew him when he worked for Wesley. He will be missed and rewarded in Heaven. RIP
I first met Bob when I applied for a job at Wesley Hospital in 1980. He invited me to join him jogging during our lunch times. We enjoyed jogging and talking and started adding others. We enjoyed our 34 “Joggers” Christmas time breakfasts with up to 10 joggers. Bob and I enjoyed donating blood 3 or 4 times a year. We also had fun helping restore the WWII B-29 airplane. A visit to see a WWII B-17 on a Friday afternoon was super. Bob was a great guy !! He will be missed by many !!
So very sorry for your loss of Bob! I really got to know him at St. Jude, but had memories of him from St. Patrick’s where my husband, Ron, had taught his kids or at least one of them! We kind of had a connection because of this! He was such a nice guy and will be truly missed! Please know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers!
I worked for Bob in the financial department at Wesley Medical Center. He was a great boss and good mentor. I learned a lot from him.
