Robert D. "Bob" Simons
It is with great sadness that the family of Bob Simons announces his passing on August 19, 2018, at the age of 77 years. Bob was born to "Louie" and Ida on February 3, 1941, and raised on a farm near Marienthal, Kansas. He was the 2nd born of six children: brothers Jim, Ron, Don, John, and sister, Geri Mazanec. He left the farm at the age of 18 and moved to Wichita to pursue an interest in avionics. He married Marlene Linnebur on June 16, 1973. They had three children and one grandchild. Bob worked at Sperry, later owned by Honeywell, for over 41 years. His recent interests included gardening, fishing, stock trading, attending auctions, and repairing/reselling wheelchairs. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Marlene Simons Linnebur; his three children, Chris Simons (Nicole Graszl) of Goddard, Jennifer Zimmer (Kurt) of Manhattan and Cory Simons (Danielle Swartsfager) of Wichita; grandson, Corbin Simons of Goddard. He leaves behind a large extended family and many lifelong friends. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. One of my best memories was as a child (there were 12 years between us) he would bring me the best presents at Christmas. I was always excited what I would get each year. Then when older he would offer a beer when visiting, still a great gift, ha ha!! Also, he would bring hunters out to the farm at the beginning of pheasant season. It was a blast. Warren Bird would bring me a box of chocolates every year, as a child this was like gold. Now for probably more than 20 years his boys and their friends have come out to the farm for pheasant season. Still a blast. Such great memories to have. He will be missed by us all. Love you brother—–sis!

Bob Simons was a very good friend and neighbor. He always had a smile and a good joke to tell. A wonderful person that will be missed by us all! Ruth Walker and Shirley Kirkpatrick
