Robert Dennis Bennett, 83, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on October 30, 1942, in Salida, Colorado to Robert and Olive (Craig) Bennett and was raised in Eureka, Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pharmacology.
He married Roberta Irene Minnis on May 20, 1967, in Manhattan, Kansas. Their early marriage life was spent in San Antonio, Texas, while he served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston where he served as a pharmacist in the base hospital during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge, they moved to Wichita, Kansas to resume working at Saint Francis Hospital, now Ascension Via Christi – Saint Francis. He started in the hospital pharmacy and later provided pharmaceutical support to the operating rooms over his entire 38-year career.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Roberta Bennett; his children, Todd Bennett and his wife Mandy, Andrew Bennett, and Timothy Bennett and his wife Melody. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samuel, Madilyn and Belladonna.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed reading, professional and college sports, music, and movies. He collected baseball cards and coins. He was an avid runner and swimmer. He enjoyed taking family vacations to many locations within the United States, and, in retirement, took several trips abroad with Roberta, including Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Polynesia, and the Galapagos Islands.
In his later years, he enjoyed a private, quiet life at home with Roberta, diligently completing daily puzzles and welcoming visits from family.
He was a role model for the whole family. He worked hard, lived simply, had fun, and provided for his loved ones.
