Ross Sterling Wheeler

Ross Sterling Wheeler passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021. Ross was born in Wichita on February 25, 1933 to Ruth and Winston Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Harriet. Ross is survived by his sister, Mary; and his five children, Salli, Bill, Steve, Jim, and David. Ross is also survived by his 10 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids. Ross loved the outdoors and instilled this passion in his children. Spending time in the “country” was one of his greatest joys. He spent decades fishing off the coast of California and loved flyfishing trips to Alaska with his sister, brother-in-law, Jim, and his children. Ross loved to spend summers in Colorado enjoying fishing, family, and especially the hummingbirds. His endless patience with his kids learning to fish was a gift we all cherish and have put to good use with our own kids. Ross was a man of few words, yet spoke volumes with the subtle advise and direction he gave to his family. A true gentleman to all and his thoughtfulness will be missed by many.
