Forbes, Roy Alvin, 85, Sun City West, AZ, died Monday, June 2, 2008. Visitation with the family 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Sunday, June 8, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral mass 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 9, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita, KS with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum. Roy was born April 3, 1923 in Brighton, Iowa to Arthur Eva Forbes. He moved to Wichita, KS, attended WSU, entered Army Air Corps, December 10, 1942, serving in WWII as aerial engineer on C-54 transport plane, delivering fuel for Air Corps over Himalaya Mountains. Roy was awarded the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Oak Leaf Cluster, 3 Bronze Stars. Later, he was a salesman for Coleman, Clipper, White Star Machinery in Wichita. Roy loved golfing (shooting a hole-in-one), bowling, baseball. His wife, Mae Forbes, of 40 years, preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter, Diana son-in-law, Alan Smith, Sun City West, their children, Ryan Smith, Alana husband, Jeff LaBelle, Randall Smith Roys sister, Joyce Orr Donations to: Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave, Suite A-100, Phoenix, AZ, 85021or Blessed Sacrament School, 3810 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67208, are gladly accepted in his name. Visitation with the family 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Sunday, June 8, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Entombment wiil be at Calvary Mausoleum.
