Ruth Strunk

Ruth Strunk, 70, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, surrounded by her children. Ruth lived as a dedicated wife, farmer, teacher and volunteer. Above all, she lived as a mother to her five children and to the hundreds of grade school students she taught. Ruth was born in Nashville, Kansas to Fred and Christina Miller. She attended Emporia State University, earning a bachelors degree in education. She married John P. Strunk in 1970 and raised her children before teaching first grade at St. Marks Elementary. Ruth loved to cook and to garden. Many will miss her cinnamon rolls, chocolate pies, beautiful flowers and sweet smile. Despite the grave suffering inflicted by pancreatic cancer, Ruth faced her final days with the same trust in God and love of family she carried throughout her life. Forever kind and thankful, she loved fiercely and selflessly until the very end. She now joins husband, John, whom she loved dearly, her parents and her brother. Ruth leaves behind children, Julie Menefee (Greg), Wayne Strunk (Roxie), Angelica Ramos (Israel), Janelle Gottlieb (Matt) and Adam Strunk (Samantha) as well as grandchildren, Aleah, Austin, Carson, Ellyana, Kiara, Nikki, Joseph, Keaton, Kinsley, Adriana, Jacob, Elijah and Lyla. She is also survived by ten siblings. Rosary, funeral mass and interment will take place at St. Marks Catholic Church with the rosary to be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 and funeral at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 29. with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lords Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214, Kansas Food Bank, 1919 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67211, or Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S.
