Pack, Sam K., 93, oil and real estate businessman, President, Pack Oil Company, Inc., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2008. Memorial service 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 20, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Preceded in death by his loving children, Anthony Pack and Esther Zicklin. Much loved by surviving family, including his son, Jeffry Pack of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Douglas Pack, David Pack and Raphael Richmond; great-grandchildren Aaron Pack, Stacy Richmond and Gabrielle Richmond. A fiercely independent, self-made man, Sam was also exceedingly generous. He was a strong supporter of progressive causes, a loyal contributor to Jewish charities, and a charter member of the Urban League in Wichita. He will be missed. A memorial has been established with the Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation, 400 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS, 67208.

Please convey our heartfelt sorrow on the passing of Sam. Meeting him at the reunion was the absolute highlight of the entire trip. We enjoyed his terrific sense of humor and also told me things about my family that I absolutely never knew. Our thoughts are with his son Jeff, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, his generosity to our grandchildren was much appreciated.
