Sandy Reyes

September 14, 1989 ~ December 22, 2020
Sandy Reyes was Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 14, 1989 to Carlos Reyes and Maria Reyes.
Sandy’s childhood years were spent in Chicago, like any other child she was a bit wild. Sandy really enjoyed Chicago's winters, playing in the snow with her siblings and parents. She lived her teen years in Irving, Texas where she graduated from high school and where she met her future husband, Victor.
Soon her older sister Vanessa married Eddy, a Harper, Kansas boy, and decided to move to Kansas.
To maintain the family together everyone agreed to make the move to Kansas and so this has been Sandy’s home for the last 14 plus years.
Sandy began to make her life here in Wichita, Kansas with her husband, Victor, and they soon were blessed with three ducklings Owen, Natalee and Lexi. While Victor was embracing his career, Sandy sought to better her life career choice. While raising kids, managing a home and working a part-time job at Olive Garden, she enrolled in a college and started towards her goal to be a nurse. Through hard work and dedication Sandy was accepted into the Nursing Program in 2012. She graduated with her BSN with honors and Magna Cum Laude December 11, 2016. She became a registered nurse at Wesley Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in 2016.

Poem by David Harkins:
You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Sandy was a wonderful nurse. She truly loved what she did and it showed in the care she provided. She was always a joy to work with, even when the day was rough she made the best of it. You will be missed as a nurse and a friend.
From day one in the NICU , Sandy has been our spark plug and number one cheerleader. Her passion for nursing found a home in the hearts of the babies, families and coworkers in the nurseries. She was always willing to work extra and she did so always with a big smile and can do attitude. Her heart and loving spirit will be greatly missed. She will not be forgotten because each of us who knew her takes a piece of her spirit and love with us as we continue in her calling. Bless you Sandy. May God’s loving arms embrace you and give you comfort in your loss.
