Thank you for your kind words
I first met Sheila at a board meeting where she was discussing the CCR test and updating the board on testing information. Even then, it was easy to see how much she loved court reporting and all it entailed. Although the meeting was brief, she left a very strong impression. Since that time, I have been grateful for the opportunity to work with Sheila and witness her extraordinary dedication, tremendous kindness, fierce loyalty, and vast knowledge. A true teacher at heart; one who willingly shared with those around her. Sheila was one of the heroes in my life, but more importantly, Sheila was my friend. She will be greatly missed. Jen Olsen
I worked as a public defender for nine years and got to know Sheila pretty well. She was always cheerful and I would often sit in her office and chat while waiting for court to start. We shared a love for office supplies. She was a lovely lady and I will miss her greatly.
I’ve known Sheila for a long time. We both worked as court reporters in the Washington, D.C. area. Most of my memories of Sheila involve working on the Greater Washington Shorthand Reporters Assn. Sheila served in every position on the Board over the years but was always the one who would recruit new Board members for us – and by “recruit” I mean twist your arm until you said, “Okay, Sheila, I’ll come to a meeting to see what it’s all about.” She never took “no” for an answer, but I’m thankful for all of her efforts as she recruited members to the Board that became great friends. She was loyal, compassionate, kind and I was lucky to have her as a friend. May she rest in peace now….
Sheila and met when we were working in Admissions and Stormont-Vail hospital while she was working on her court reporters certification this was in the mid 70’s. We kept in touch even when she was in DC but I lost track of her after that and sorry that we did not reconnect once she was back in Wichita and I lived in Topeka. She was a wonderful caring person with lots of love and will be missed. Doug Bowen
