Shirley A. (Tomey) Hartness, 76, homemaker, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Visitation with the family present, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 6; Funeral Service, 1 p.m., Friday, October 7, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Preceded in death by husband, Danny Ray; parents, Lorene and Nicholas Tomey. Survivors: sons, Danny R. Hartness, Jr., Scott V.T. Hartness and wife, Trudy; daughter, Gayna Valentine; sisters, JoAnne Robison, Donna Tomey Tucker, Marcella J. Mays and husband, Paul; brother, Nicholas Tomey, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; aunts, Elizabeth Day, Helen Duncan and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a devoted Christian and raised her children to follow the Lord.
