Shirley Louise Brinkman

Shirley Louise Brinkman, passed away on October 19, 2016 at Larksfield Place, where she had been a resident since 2009. She was born in Gaithersburg, MD on January 6, 1928 to Oliver L. and Katherine Walz Harr. At the age of 13, she moved with her mother and brother to Wichita, Kansas where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a 1949 graduate of Wichita State University and an elementary school librarian for 26-1/2 years. She married Sidney E. Brinkman on January 3, 1961 and they celebrated their 47th anniversary before Sidneys death in 2008. Shirley had a beautiful smile and a cheerful attitude. She loved pets and a good joke. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father; her mother, Katherine Harr Taylor; her brother, Charles E. Harr; and a nephew, Thomas A. Harr. She is survived by four nieces and five nephews. Visitation with her family will be Friday, October 28, 2016, from 6:00 8:00 P.M.; Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 29, 2016, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Interment following at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, 1861 N. Rock Rd. #380, Wichita, KS 67206.
