71, retired clergy serving numerous United Methodist Churches throughout Kansas, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Private family services. A public celebration of life to be announced. Preceded in death by parents, Alan and Corinne Montgomery. Survivors: husband, George; sons, George (Trisha) Stover of Lyons, Sterling (Sarah) Stover of Mitchell, NE; brother, Alan (Karen) Montgomery of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Hannah, Daci, Dawson and Kapri Stover. In lieu of flowers, memorials established with the Salvation Army, 350 N. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and United Methodist Open Door, P.O. Box 2756, Wichita, KS 67201 Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.

George & family: What a surprise and shock to learn of Susan’s death. Of course, we’d somewhat lost touch over the past few years but please know that our deepest sympathy goes to you and we remember you in our thoughts and prayers. I appreciated my relationship with Susan when I was Winfield D. S. and had the highest regards for her capabilities, leadership and deep faith. Cherri and I both remember her going with the foods trailer to MS after Hurricane Katrina and some of the things she shared after returning. We used several of her quotes in the Disaster Response training events which we held so that people might know more of what to expect. These and other experiences come to mind as we remember.
