Susan Wolcott

Susan Wolcott, 71, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, after a courageous seventeen-year bout with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Edward (Ted) Wolcott and her sister, Teresa. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Gartside (Terry) of Tulsa; nephews, Peter Galbraith (Belinda) of Tulsa, Mark Galbraith (Jennifer) of Tulsa; step-nieces, Mandy Gartside of Texas and Carrie Anthony of Seattle; plus, great-nieces and nephews, as well as Uncle Bill Stoll of Kansas City, and cherished cousins throughout Kansas. A graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy (63) and Wichita State University (67 Bachelor, 76 Masters), Susan taught at Benton Grade School, Pratt High School, and Metro-Boulevard Alternative High School, where she nurtured her students with English lessons and peanut butter sandwiches. She retired in 2008. Susan was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Delta Rho Sorority, and the League of Women Voters. Reading, traveling, sports, playing golf, and arguing politics were her favorite pursuits. A rosary will be said on Wednesday the April 12, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 am, followed immediately by Mass at 10:30 am. A graveside service at Calvary Cemetery will follow.
