Tara Arjune

Arjune, Tara, 74, homemaker, died Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, KS after a long illness. Memorial service, 11:00 A.M., Sunday, December 10, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Tara was born in Mahica Creek, Guyana, South America on April 20, 1932. She attended Mahica Handsometree School. In 1946 she married Khemraj Arjune. He was a rice farmer and rancher and preceded her in death in 1976. Tara loved her family and grandchildren and would cry every time one would get scolded. She hated goodbyes but was brave enough to travel to Guyana, Canada, and New York to see her family. She was always saving her money for travel or to help family. She loved her Hindu religion. Tara was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Neena Kanhi; brothers, Seecharan Dhanraj and Dhanraj; sisters, Rosie Bhantran, Latchmin Ramroop, and Durmati Ramraj. Survivors: sons, Ramgobind (Khem, Sona) Khemraj and wife, Wanda, of Elkhart, Chatterpaul (Harry) Khemraj and wife, Lynn, of Liberal; daughters, Nandranee (Leiala) Kandhai of Elkhart, Moramate (Mora, Chunku) Singh and husband, Bridjraj, of Wichita, Hardia (Lorna) BeHarry and husband, Len, of Coral Springs, FL; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Jaikaran Dhanraj lives in Toronto, Canada and Shiverbarran Dhanraj lives in Queens, NY. Memorial established with High Plains Health Foundation, P.O. Box 937, Elkhart, KS 67950.
