Dear Ann, David and I were very sad to learn of Tom’s passing and I want to extend to you and your family our deepest sympathy. We were very surprised to read his obituary in our paper, ‘The Oklahoman’. There were several things we had been unaware of…..including his OKC roots and attending Classen High School. We knew you grew up in OKC but never connected Tom to that era. I assumed that he was from elsewhere and you all met in the course of college at OU. And I noted the mention of Leslie and her married name. You would not remember this but she was a senior in the Theta house when our daughter, Ashley Buxton (now Willis), was finishing her senior year at Kapaun. Our family moved to OKC at the beginning of Ashley’s senior year and she wanted to stay in Wichita to finish at Kapaun, so she did and lived with my parents. During that year we tried to get her hooked up with some OU Thetas that could help when rush time came. What a gift it was to discover Leslie! She was so nice to Ashley…invited her for an overnight at the Theta house, introduced her to lots of girls, answered lots of the questions about rush and college, and made herself totally available the time she was there. The following August Ashley pledged, was initiated in the spring, and completed four years at OU. It was a wonderful time for her and us and we have always felt indebted to Leslie for her help in guiding us through the how-to’s of rush and helping to sell Theta to Ashley. We share wonderful memories of you and Tom. Please know that you and the family are in ouor thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Penny — No virus found in this incoming message.
