Timothy Gentry

Timothy Gentry, 67, retired programmer, died Sunday, August 25, 2024. Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.Timothy was born on August 28, 1956 to Wayne and Eloise Gentry, and raised in Independence, MO along with his sister, Deborah Mims (Gentry). He moved to Wichita after college to begin his career at NCR, and began attending church in the city, where he met Mary Jane Gentry (Rhoads). He took her out for ice cream, and really impressed her, as she would tell in the story of how they got together. They married May 4, 1979 and raised three children together. Timothy and Mary Jane were active members of the Church of Christ, volunteering to help with various programs, reaching out to those unable to attend services. Timothy enjoyed growing a vegetable garden each summer, featuring homegrown tomatoes. He enjoyed classical music and was able to play several instruments.Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Gentry. Survived by his sister, Deborah Mims, of Forest City, MO; daughters, Allison (David) Connor of Abilene, TX, Sarah (Jason) Henderson of Emporia, KS; son, Joshua Gentry of Wichita; grandchildren, Gentry, Emberly, Hartley and Oakley Connor, Matthew and Daniel Henderson.A memorial has been established with Know Your Bible, c/o Northside Church of Christ, 4545 N.
