I’ll always remember Tim making the trip to Lima, Peru, to attend my wedding in 2004. And many more memories too numerous to mention. He was a great friend and will always be remembered.
Timothy Jay Kerschen, 61, was born January 22, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, to Walter Leo Kerschen and Jill Alicia (Morgan) Kerschen. He joined our parents in his heavenly home on Thursday, September 18th, 2025.
The oldest of four children, Tim attended school at Kensler Elementary and then St. Francis of Assisi Wichita which he attended through the 8th grade. He was a 1982 graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. During high school he worked at Towne West Movie Theater, occasionally letting his friends in for free. He earned a Bachelor of Science Accounting degree from Wichita State University. His career as an Auditor for the United States Department of Labor, officing out of Kansas City, spanned more than 30 years, retiring at the age of 58 in 2022.
Outside of work, Tim attended every Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals home game he possibly could, an owner of season tickets for many years. He could cite the history and statistics of every player and team. His baseball cards were organized, not by team, but in alphabetical order.
Tim had a legendary memory of events, locations, facts. His claim to fame in our family was his ability to recite the date of birth, age of death for every family member covering multiple generations. When asked, he could tell you the age of every cousin, aunt/uncle, grandparent, nieces and nephews, all from the top of his head. It’s probably what made him good at his job as an auditor as well.
Aside from watching baseball and football games on TV or at the stadium, Tim enjoyed traveling, taking many trips with church groups, including Alaska, Caribbean Islands, Europe, etc.
Preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew Christian, Tim is survived by his sisters, Laura Dean, Linda (John) Waters; brother, Tom Kerschen; nieces and nephews, Courtney (Danny) Huff, Shelby (David) Knifley, Kirsten (John) Sponsel, Jessica (Bryan) Campbell, Alicia (Sebastian) Constable, Joey (Molly) Dean, Derek (Liz) Dean, Megan (Colton) Slusser, Danah (Colson) Riemann, Kenzie Dean (Dakota Dugan), Heidi Hudson, Maudie Jo Hudson; great-nieces and nephews, Cyrus, Scott, Gabe, Briana, Koby, Jordynn, MJ, Hendrix, Julian, Bella, Creed, Dodge, Asher, Lucas, Norma Jean, Matthew.

I’m so honored to call Tim my friend. I worked with Tim at Towne West Cinemas, and felt blessed that he came to my sister’s Celebration of Life service in July, just a week after losing his dad. It was great catching up with him, and he will be missed.
