The funeral service will be at 11 am, Friday, August 19th at St. Thomas Aquinas. Timothy was born September 15, 1983 in Wichita, the son of Gerald and Priscilla (Louris) OShaughnessy. Part of a deeply close knit family, Tim is survived by his five siblings, Michael, Conor, Clare Blasi (Nick), Lael Falls (Colin), and Kate Mitchell (Grant), as well as his beloved grandmother, Mary Ellen Louris, and adored nieces, Lael and Emma Blasi. Following graduation from Wichita Collegiate School, Timothy attended the University of Notre Dame where he double majored, earning degrees in The Program of Liberal Studies (The Great Books), one of the most prestigious degrees at Notre Dame, as well as Mandarin Chinese, in which he became fluent in speaking, writing and reading. In his junior year, through Notre Dame, he attended Beijing University, the premier school in all of China. His performance there soon translated to acceptance to the exclusive IUP program at Qinghua University, another elite Chinese university and its top technical school. Between semesters of his undergraduate studies in China, Timothy continued to exhibit his adventurous streak by going to work for a fledgling oil company in a remote area of South America, near the Straits of Magellan. There, he was in the field and working on the well as the company discovered its first oil, which became the foundation of the now public company GEOPARK. Following his graduation from Notre Dame, Timothy became the general manager for Sentry Internationals Shanghai office where he had the tough, but extremely rewarding task of traveling all over China. Tims job took him to more than 25 different factories in seven different provinces, an experience which further enhanced his language and cultural skills. Following his work for Sentry, Timothy became the Vice President of Lario Logistics where he was instrumental in the development of the Bakken Oil Express crude-by-rail terminal in North Dakota. Timothy decided to continue his studies and received his Masters of Business Administration at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, from which he graduated this last spring. Tim was currently working as Vice President of Asia Markets for Lario Oil and Gas, spearheading their marketing and sales efforts throughout China. Timothy was a pilot, an avid chess player, by ear pianist, and expert sailor. Having accumulated a large book collection, he read extensively over a wide area of subjects including philosophy, economics, art, literature, astronomy, and physics. Despite his remarkable knowledge and extraordinary accomplishments, Timothy was humble and unassuming to a fault, seeking first to learn from others, and always putting them first. His greatest talent was being the most loving, genuinely sweet, and loyal family member and friend to all who knew him. Memorial has been established with: Timothy P. OShaughnessy Foundation, 4435 Main Street Suite 1100, Kansas City, MO 64111. Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
