Troy R. Evans

Troy R. Evans, 51, of Wichita, KS, passed away unexpectedly March 22, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy, and his father, Robert. Troy is survived by his wife, Lia; children, Alek Russen (Emily Fletcher), Audrey (Ryan) Hill, Abbey Evans, Austin Evans; stepson, Sinjin Vu; grandchildren, Dexter and Alice; brothers, Jay (Stephanie) Cheatum, Eric Burns; sisters, Tambra Hiser, Tonya (Cesar) Cantu; along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, a niece, and a great-niece. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sharyl Evans.
Troy was a member of the Kansas Air National Guard, 184th Wing, retiring in 2015 as a Master Sergeant, after 25 years of service. In that time, he made many lifelong friendships.
Troy then followed his passion for cooking by starting his own business, The Bomb BBQ, a food truck and catering company. He was also proud to serve on the board of directors of Passageways, LTD., serving many homeless veterans in Wichita.
Visitation 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Rosary will be 10:00 am, Funeral Service will be 10:30 am, both Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Passageways, LTD., 6841 W. Shade Lane #202, Wichita, KS 67212.
Troy was one of a kind. He would go out of his way to help anyone and often did. He was fun to be around and was generous with this time, his talent and his love. He passionately loved his family, his brothers in arms and his country. He will be missed by so many. Frank and Linda Chappell.
