Vaughn Eldon Marshall

Marshall, Vaughn Eldon, 79, of Wichita, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was born on March 16, 1931 in Parsons, KS to Vaughn and Mildred Marshall. He married Dana Marie Wells on November 17, 1949 in Parsons. He was the caregiver for his wife for several years before she passed away on October 14, 2006. He was a long time employee of Southwestern Bell, retiring after more than thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Wichita for over fifty years and was a regular volunteer there. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and viewing televised sports. For the past year and a half he had been at the skilled nursing facility at Catholic Care Center. Survivors include a sister, Myrna Marshall and her husband, Jon Saxe of the San Francisco Bay Area, daughters Catherine Marshall of the San Francisco Bay Area, Teresa Marshall and Mary Marshall Steinley of Wichita, three sons, Bob Marshall and his wife Rosemary of Kansas City, Ken Marshall of Michigan and Joseph Marshall, retired Air Force, of Arizona, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita. Burial will be at Ascension Cemetery in Wichita. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7 at the church. The family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, 67202 and the school at Blessed Sacrament, 125 N. Quentin, Wichita, 67208. Downing and Lahey Mortuary East is in charge of the arrangements.
