Vera Bernice Mitchell

Vera Bernice (Cary) Mitchell, 98, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Public Viewing will be from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm, Saturday, August 7, 2021, and Sunday, August 8, 2021, with family present from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Private Burial at Hope Cemetery in Arkansas City, KS. Vera was born on June 23, 1923. She grew up on a farm in northern Oklahoma. After graduating from High School in Braman, OK she attended Wichita Business College. Vera was employed by multiple oil companies throughout her career along with holding a certification in Graphoanalysis. She retired at the age of 78. Vera had many varied interests including dance, world travel and marathon running in which she belonged to two running clubs in her earlier years. Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Elsie Cary; brother, Leo Elvin Cary. She is survived by her son, John Cary (Michelle) Mitchell of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, John Dean Mitchell and Deanna Mitchell (Anthony) Gaudiello; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Forest; beloved niece and nephew, Linda (Larry) States of Everett, WA and Roger Cary of Augusta, KS; unconditional loving friends, Leigh Ann White of Atherton, CA and Amber Benavente of Wichita, KS. A memorial has been established with Sisters of St. Joseph, 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, KS 67218.
