Gibson, Vergil L., 87, retired Cessna sheet metal worker, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011. Service 9:30 a.m., Thursday, October 27 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Vergil was a B17 tail gunner during WWII. Preceded in death by wife, Eva Lucille Gibson; sisters, Helen Cecil Nulph, Nila Nadine Wilson and Marjorie Alice Wiggans; brothers, Corwin K. Gibson and Lawrence E. Gibson. Survivors: many nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL, 60674.

Vergil and I were good friends as we were growing up and were second cousins. We played for a lot of dances during that time. We were together when he met his future wife and when I met my future wife. We would be glad to hear from some of his nieces or nephews.We extend our condolences to his family.
