Carmichael, Violet, 99, homemaker and lifelong resident of Wichita, died Monday, March 24, 2008. She was born on December 21, 1908, the first child of Jesse and Leona Richardson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Carmichael, longtime officer at Wheeler, Kelly, Hagney, and the 4th National Bank. Her sisters, Vera Redmond, Velma Cracraft, brother, Robert Richardson and great-grandson, Cohen Arellano, preceded Violet in death. She is survived by son, Jack Carmichael (Regina) and daughter, Karen Hageman ( John) both of Wichita, sister, Evelyn Harmon of Hutchinson, 6 grandchildren including, Cara Graves and Lea Morrow of Wichita, Peter Hageman of Austin, TX, Jill Hageman of Los Angeles and great-granddaughter, Ava Graves of Wichita. The grandchildren all have fond memories of Violets baking talent, especially her wonderful cherry pies. Violet was born in Wichita, graduated from Wichita High School in 1926 and University of Wichita in 1931. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. George Scheer after graduation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Visitation will be held at 6:30 ~ 7:30 P.M., Friday, March 28 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Private graveside services will be held.
