Virginia Ochs Becker 93, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully Fri., Dec. 11, 2015 surrounded by all her children. Virginia was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on May 15, 1922, the daughter of Florence Tearney Ochs and Herman A. Ochs. She graduated from Mount Saint Scholastica Academy in Atchison and attended the University of Kansas where she was a music major and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. While at KU, Virginia met her future husband Karl Becker, a geology graduate student, and began a love affair that lasted more than 64 years. Virginia and Karl were married in 1941 and were blessed with 4 children. Mr. and Mrs. Becker were founding members of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and Virginia was an active member of Geologist Wives and the Chi Omega Sorority Alumnae. Virginia had a rich and fulfilling life, and truly loved her role as a wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl E. Becker, Sr.; and her brother, Herman A. Ochs, Jr. She is survived by her children: Karl (Gail) Becker, MD, Paul (Sharon) Becker, Ruthie (Jim) Gillespie, and Bruce Becker; eight grandchildren: Karl III (Kitty) Becker, Pattie (Mathias) Leppitsch, Chris (Cynthia) Becker, Jamie Becker, Debbie (Matt) Grylicki, Ann (Chris) Linck, Jane (Jon) Pryor, Caroline Gillespie and 12 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express special gratitude to all of the staff at Larksfield Place for their kindness and help on her last journey. Funeral Mass 10 A.M., Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1321 N. Stratford Ln, Wichita, KS 67206. Private interment at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 7611 State Line #100, Kansas City, MO 64114 and Alzheimers Association, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214. Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.
