Virginia C. Finnerty

Virginia C. Finnerty, 102, retired educator and Derby Junior High School counselor, died on February 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Joe Finnerty. Survivors include three sons, Tim (Bob Adams) of Wichita, Kevin (Ida) of Jacksonville, FL, and Brian (Nancy) of Stilwell, KS, and two daughters, Monessa (Joseph) Cummins of Grinnell, IA, and Doretta (Brent) Watson of Olathe, KS; ten grandchildren, Michael (Moniqué) Finnerty, Kaitlin Finnerty, Shawn Finnerty, Fiona (Tyler) Smith, Will Cummins, John (Elissa) Cummins, Fr. Zachary Watson, Tyler Watson, Megan (Andy) Gustafson, Amy (Brian) Foster, and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, preceded by praying of the rosary at 10 AM, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1321 North Stratford, Wichita, KS. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Hartford, KS, the same day at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
