Virginia Lee Sanders

virginia sanders
While finishing up her degree in Medical Technology, Virginia and Tom met each other while she was walking down the street in front of his parent’s house with some friends. Shortly thereafter, they had their first date. Tom took her flying over the city of Wichita and proceeded to run out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing at a golf course. This was the beginning of her whirlwind adventure of her adult life. They married in 1956, had five children (Gina, Lisa, Linda, Laura and Tom). While busy taking care of her family, she continued to work in the medical field of hematology. In 1971, she earned her membership to the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She even earned a Master’s Degree of Science in 1981. After her retirement she became a Master Gardener in 2002. She did volunteer work with the Sedgwick County Extension Center. Her flower gardens at home were of grandeur natural beauty. Many neighbors would ask permission if they could take family portraits in her garden paradise. Her hard work and green thumb brought joy to everyone, especially Virginia. Virginia adored her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also had a strong faith in Jesus Christ our Savior, and our Lord God Almighty with whom she is now resting peacefully. She had a long and blessed life. Private services to be held. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

  2. Virginia was such a precious soul! I became acquainted with her through the Master Gardener program. She was a very talented gardener as well as very kind & fun to be with. One year she generously invited the Demonstration Garden crew to her home for a wonderful Christmas luncheon! Virginia lived life well & was a blessing to all!
Well done! Good & faithful servant!
