Wanda Lee Henkle, 87, retired printing press operator at the Sedgwick County Extension office, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Private Family Services to be held. Wanda once was a school teacher in a one room schoolhouse. She took many adventures with her family including lots of travels within the United States, to Mexico and Ecuador. Preceded in death by her father, Clinton Broom; mother, Vivian Broom; step-father, Raymond Reiter; husband, Donald L. Henkle. Survived by her daughters, Marlene Henkle, Mindy (Jack) Johnson; grandchildren, Annie (Josh) Bagby, Jacque McLain, Kristen (Gabe) Hadipour; great grandchildren, Michael, Ashlyn, J.J.; sister, Juanita Rix; dear cousin, Donna Kary. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Allen County Historical Society, 20 S. Washington, Iola, KS 66749. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

Wanda and I graduated together in Iola in 1954. She was always quiet, sweet and hard working. My condolences to the family. She will be missed.
I had the pleasure of knowing Wanda and Don for over 30 years. I was their dental hygienist and enjoyed our visits every 6 months. Their love for each other was so apparent. Wanda was so sweet and always came in with that big smile on her face. She loved her family and would proudly update me on her grandchildren. I know she is so happy to be reunited Don in Heaven. Rest in peace sweet Wanda.
