Wayne C. Oburn, Jr.

Oburn Jr., Wayne C., passed away on February 18th, 2015. Mr. Oburn was born in Wichita in 1937 to Wayne C. Sr. and Ruby P. (Hendrickson) Oburn. He attended Wichita East High School where he was a member of the golf team. He returned from OU to marry high school sweetheart, Deanna in November 1957, and completed his studies at Wichita State University. Mr. Oburn was an entrepreneur who loved growing a business. He owned Fowler-Oburn Sales, Inc., a food brokerage for 31 years before briefly retiring. While in the brokerage business, Wayne served on many national industry advisory boards. Wayne was an active member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack. He is survived by wife of 57 years, Deanna (Jackson) Oburn and two daughters, Ashley (Kevin) Davis of Wichita and Lesley (Steve) Sheldon of Kansas City, Kansas. In addition, Mr. Oburn leaves five grandchildren, Kathryn (Preston) Rubottom of Clearwater, Hayden Davis of Wichita, Evan Michelle Davis of Pittsburg, Kansas, Gordon Sheldon of Lawrence, Kansas and Sydney Sheldon of Kansas City, Kansas; and three great-grandchildren, Keaton, Emersyn and Paityn Rubottom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Wichita Junior Golf Association, 7529 E. 10th Cir. N., Wichita, KS 67206; Plymouth Congregational Church, 202 N. Clifton Ave., Wichita, KS 67208.
