Wedad Wendy Jacobs

OVERLAND PARK - Jacobs, Wendy, 89, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House. An inspiration to all her family, she was born April 1, 1923, in Oklahoma City to Mose and Hafeetha Shadid, both immigrants from Lebanon. She married Frederick “Freddie” Jacobs on Aug. 3, 1947. They made their home in Wichita, Kan. Later, Wendy moved to Overland Park, Kan. to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Fred; sons, Anthony (Tony) and Robert (Bob); brother, Kelly Shadid; sisters, Anita Shadid and Alena Shadid; brothers-in-law, Khairy Shadid and Jim Nayfa; and her niece, Pammy Shadid. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephan and Mary Kay Jacobs; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Jacobs-Huffaker and John Huffaker; grandsons, Chris Jacobs, Brett Jacobs and Scott Jacobs and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nellie Nayfa; sister-in-law, Vicky Shadid and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church 11901 Pflumm Rd. Overland Park, Kan., Monday, Dec 3, beginning at 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. A visitation will also be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at St. George Orthodox Cathedral 7515 E. 13th St. Wichita, Kan., followed by a Trisagion and Funeral Service at 7 p.m. There will also be a visitation from 8-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec 5, at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, Kan., with burial to follow at Old Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church or Kansas City Hospice House.
