William "Bill" C. Butterworth, Jr.

William "Bill" C. Butterworth, JR, 90, passed away August 20, 2021 peacefully at home.
He was born October 10, 1930 to William "Claren" Butterworth, SR and Mabel (Kerns) Butterworth in Oklahoma City, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William C. Butterworth lll.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy (Turner); children, Cherie (Gary) Austin, Lianne Fife, both of Tucson, AZ, Tammy Bernhardt of Overland Park, KS, Schelly (Jerry) Hill of Mulvane, KS, Jeff Tucker of Avalon, CA, and Kelly Robinson of Malibu, CA; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS and was a US Navy Veteran.
He was an avid Track & Field athlete participating in Masters Track and Senior Olympics. He was a proud participant in the Annual Bill Butterworth Masters Open Indoor Track Meet at Wichita State University. He worked as a coach and teacher in Marysville, KS, Wichita Public Schools and Wichita State University.
He retired from Clear Creek Oil Co as a Crude Oil Purchaser and was a member of NCRA. In retirement he was a Real Estate Agent with Prudential Dining Beard & Berkshire Hathaway Pen Fed.
Over the years he enjoyed Shocker basketball & baseball as a long time season ticket holder. He was also a member of the Wichita State Say So Board.
He was also an expert exterior Christmas light hanger, awesome Drivers Ed Instructor, and a referee for local high school sports for many years.

Coach Butterworth was my coach at Hamilton from 62-65. Very kind and caring individual. I remember him well. RIP Coach.
