William "Bill" Cook, 61, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 17, 2022. Bill was born to Everett and Marie (Jenkins) Cook in Wichita, KS, on April 14, 1961. After graduating from Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School, he attended Wichita State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and subsequent Masters of Business Administration. Most importantly, he met his wife Cynthia at the Newman Center on campus. Married in 1984, they had two children, Emily and Joshua. Bill and Cindy were involved with Engaged Encounter for many years, one of their many illustrations of stewardship as a couple. Bill spent his thirty-plus year career at Boeing/Spirit Aerosystems, and always carried a deep interest in aviation - a seed planted no doubt by his father, aeronautical engineer, Everett. One of his and Cindy’s biggest adventures was a three-year stay in Scotland, on assignment with Spirit. Both Emily and Josh were able to join them for a few months of their time there, making treasured memories as a family across the pond.Among Bill’s greatest joys were his family and cycling. Bill and his brother, Chuck, were well on their way to riding the Lewis and Clark trail across the US. He also found great joy in more local rides, towing his beloved granddaughter Casey Jo in a Burley. He was a man of steadfast devotion to both his wife and his faith; he traveled the world with both by his side. Bill and Cindy enjoyed discovering new places together and on adventures with family and friends. Ever generous, wise, understanding, and kind, Bill was a friend to all and will be desperately missed.Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Cook; father, Everett Cook; stepmother, Joyce Cook; and niece, Shanda Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Cook of Bel Aire, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Emily & Andrew Sarley of Asbury, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua & Hannah Cook of Vail, CO; brother, Chuck (Brenda) Cook of Salina, KS; sisters, Janet (John) Kush, Sue Cook, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Casey Jo and Stratton Sarley.A rosary vigil will be at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2022; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 22, 2022, both at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church.
