William Bill Mitchell

William “Bill” Wesley Mitchell, City of Wichita Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, was born on Friday, April 14, 1961, in Burns, Oregon, and passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Mitchell was a loving husband and father to 6 children: five sons and one daughter, with whom he shared several hobbies such as astronomy, computers, gaming, rocketry, reading and radios. Bill was a true jack-of all trades, able to accomplish any task large or small, often stopping to help those around him at the drop of a hat. Bill worked 39 faithful years for the City of Wichita Park Department, taking his duties to the public seriously, always going above and beyond to preserve the beauty and quality of all public parks in Wichita. He was a well-known co-worker, an admired supervisor, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Mitchell and Sandra Hollinger. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Mitchell; sons, Anthony Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Mason Mitchell and Dakota Mitchell; daughter, Madisyn Mitchell; grandchildren, Ashley and Aiden.
