William Gerald “Jerry” May was born on December 20, 1956, and passed into the arms of his Savior September 28, 2023. Jerry was a friend to everyone he met, known as a very kind and gentle soul, and will be deeply missed. Jerry loved his family and friends very much and enjoyed rugby – playing for many years as a fierce warrior. Jerry also loved the Atlanta Braves, watching old westerns and vintage television, flea markets, and cooking. Jerry worked many years as a successful tool salesman and achieved many awards and recognitions. Left behind to mourn his loss are his brothers, Barry May (Karen), Rusty May (Linda); sister Teresa May Lanier; many nieces and nephews; special love, Joyce Batterson; best friend Duane Halbfass; and his Pathway Church Home Team friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Buddy and Faye May; brother, Randy May, and his wife Sally May. Services will be held at a later date. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.

  1. Jerry, I have no words to express how much you will be missed. Thank you for your support and the time we had together. The last Saturday we shared tears and memories, meant everything to me. I know you’re with God now playing rugby. Love, Joyce

  2. My heart and prayers go out to jerrys family and all of his other friends. Jerry was my best friend considered him like a brother, I loved helping him at flea market and he loved helping me with some of my remodeling jobs. I am going to miss him alot, he always was in good spirits and made me laugh and I have to say I learned a few things from him. Love you jerry, from myself and stella and sarah. U are going to be missed alot.

  3. Jerry was a long time member ( and always will be) of the Golden Isles Hammerhead Rugby club in Brunswick. GA. He was known as ‘Maytoid’ and a member we could always count on, on and off the ‘pitch’. All of us will sorely miss Jerry.

  4. Jerry came into our lives a little later, but my mom always said how supportive he was to her. Our kids only knew him as grandpa Jerry and grandma Joyce. He would cook the kids’ dinner when they would make their way down for horse camp every year. He made the best spaghetti and ham! We will truly miss you Jerry! You helped us make memories that we will cherish forever. Thank you and may you rest in peace.

    Tina, Maliah, Claire, and Scarlett

P.S. Scarlett still talks about pinky to this day. I hope you have reunited with him in heaven. God bless.
