Stringer, George I., 83, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2005. Mr. Stringer was born on August 28, 1922 in Versailles, MO to Grover and Mattie (Williams) Stringer. He married Gladys K. Rackers in 1946, in Jefferson City, MO. He moved to Wichita in 1953. He was retired from All Weather Products. Mr. Stringer was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He first served on the Monrovia, participating in the invasion of Sicily. He then transferred to the Catskill, participating in many island invasions in the Pacific. In 1951 he was recalled for two years of active duty during the Korean Conflict serving on the USS Brush. Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Metz; his parents; brothers, Frank, Charles and Jack; and a sister, Edith Russell. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys; his sister, Alice Robinson of Jefferson City, MO; sons, George Jr. and John; son-in-law, Mike Metz, all of Wichita; and a daughter, Beverly Utermoehlen (Clifford) of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorials to Christ the King School Memorial, 4501 W. Maple, Wichita, KS 67209 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Rosary 7:00 P.M. Friday, Service 10:00 A.M.
